Funko has brought some of the biggest icons in music, gaming, movies, and comics to their popular POP line, and that included at one point the King of Pop himself Michael Jackson. Funko released 5 different versions of the iconic singer over the years, but it appears not all was gravy between the toymaker and the Michael Jackson estate recently. Sources have told TMZ that attorneys for Jackson's estate notified Funko that it was still using images of the Michael Jackson POPs on its website and since it's been several years since the licensing deal with Jackson's Estate ran out, the estate asked to have them removed.
The licensing deal between the Jackson Estate and Funko ran from 2011 to 2013, and the estate took issue with collectors still being able to access images of the figures in Funko's catalog. Now, the figures were just listed as part of Funko's POP line, as all POPs are once they've been announced, so Funko wasn't actively selling them or acting as if they were still available.

Still, Funko reportedly removed the images and that satisfied the Jackson Estate's claim.

In addition to being a standalone short film, 'Smooth Criminal' became the centerpiece of Michael's most ambitious film project at the time, Moonwalker, a feature-length film that was released theatrically in various countries outside of the United States. In the 'Smooth Criminal' portion of the film, Michael and his friends face off against the notorious drug lord Mr. Big (Joe Pesci) and attempt to foil his plot to get the children of the world hooked on drugs—but of course, in the end, Michael defeats the villain.

The musical portion of 'Smooth Criminal' takes place in the magical 'Club ‘30s,' where Michael instructed his friends to meet him. While Katie (Kellie Parker), Zeke (Brandon Adams) and Sean (Sean Lennon) find the club to be long abandoned, Club ‘30s springs to life when Michael shows up, wearing a blue and white pinstripe suit and fedora.
As the kids watch through the window, Michael flips a coin into the jukebox and leads the club patrons through a dazzling performance to 'Smooth Criminal.' Here, Michael shows off updated versions of his signature dance moves. He also debuts one of his most iconic dance moves: the 'anti-gravity lean,' a seemingly impossible move.

Michael derived the visual and artistic direction for the 'Smooth Criminal' short film from a variety of sources, including the film The Third Man and Fred Astaire's 'Girl Hunt Ballet' in the musical The Band Wagon. During filming, Hermes Pan, Astaire's longtime choreographer, visited the set and praised Jackson's tributes to Astaire's costume and choreography from The Band Wagon. Director Colin Chilvers, an Oscar-winning special effects coordinator for Superman: The Movie (1978), recalled Michael's drive to create the best work he possibly could in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone. Watching production dailies on their lunch breaks, 'Michael would say, ‘We can do better than that,'' Chilvers said. 'It was Michael's movie and he was going to do exactly what he felt he needed to do to make it perfect.'
The 'Smooth Criminal' short film became one of Michael's most celebrated visual works. In 1989, it received Best Video accolades at the BRIT Awards, the British Phonographic Industry, the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the People's Choice Awards and the World Music Awards. The short film also received three MTV Video Music Award nominations, winning for Best Cinematography in a Video. In 2014, Rolling Stone ranked 'Smooth Criminal' No. 5 on a list of Michael Jackson's 20 Greatest Videos.
